About the cohort
In 2021, Okta launched the Nonprofit Technology Fellowship, a program within Okta for Good’s Nonprofit Technology Initiative. The goal was to empower a diverse collection of rising nonprofit technology leaders, enriching the sector with their experience and making them more effective strategic leaders within their organizations. Now, Okta for Good and NTEN have partnered to deliver the Nonprofit Technology Leadership Fellowship, a one-year program for senior technology leaders across missions and disciplines, accelerating their impact in their communities and the broader ecosystem.
Today, technology leadership is more urgent than ever. Nonprofits stand at a critical crossroads where tight budgets collide with rapid adoption of emerging technologies and surging cyber threats. As the #1 most targeted industry for cyber attacks, robust security is essential to unlocking the full potential of new tools like AI. We believe technology’s true impact depends on senior leaders who have the courage to build secure systems, govern emerging tech, and shield their organizations from risk. By investing in senior tech leaders, we empower them to safely navigate new innovations while keeping community trust uncompromised.
The Nonprofit Technology Leadership Fellowship supports nonprofit professionals working at registered nonprofits anywhere in the world. All fellows participate in shared learning sessions as a cohort and design personal learning and leadership goals that are supported through training opportunities, coaching, and access to present and publish.

Fellowship highlights
Deepen your executive authority as a senior tech leader, share best practices around technology and security, and develop public-facing frameworks that champion safe adoption of emerging technologies like AI to protect the entire nonprofit ecosystem.
Foundational training
Fellows establish a shared baseline of foundational knowledge and approaches to strategic technology with full online access to NTEN courses from expert practitioners, free enrollment in NTEN's Nonprofit Technology professional certificate, and any additional professional certificate(s) of their choice.
Supportive connections
Fellows will develop a high-powered peer community within their cohort, an illustrious fellowship alumni network, and also receive access to mentors and advisors who will be able to offer direct feedback on projects or work in real-time through customized workshops, as well as offer broader career advancement, strategic technology ideas, and other topics. These mentors are recruited across the nonprofit, philanthropy, and technology sectors, drawing on both NTEN and Okta’s relationships, to ensure advisors reflect the diversity of roles and backgrounds as the fellows themselves.
Nonprofit Technology Conference
Fellows receive travel coverage and complimentary registration to participate in NTEN's Nonprofit Technology Conference, as well as other sector events.
Professional impact
Fellows will receive opportunities to be published for original thought leadership, present an NTEN course or conference session at the Nonprofit Technology Conference, participate in sector events and presentations, or otherwise produce original content for the sector.
Funding
Each fellow’s organization will receive a cash award from NTEN of $15,000 in recognition of the fellow’s time and as a catalyst for the organization’s capacity.
Our goal is to form a cohort that is diverse in many ways. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and from all over the world.
- Candidates must be employed full-time by a 501c3 nonprofit (for US-based organizations) or your country’s equivalent.
- While designed with senior technology executives in mind, we remain flexible and welcome applicants at all levels who hold high strategic influence or unique technology leadership responsibilities. Your job title matters less than your impact: candidates’ roles should focus primarily or exclusively on technology, regardless of title.
While most educational programming is self-paced, please note that live events and workshops will be hosted in Pacific Time.

- Orientation date: Wednesday, November 18, 2026, 8:30 AM PT – Applicants are encouraged to add a hold on your calendar to ensure all those selected can participate
