Introduction to responsible AI

AI hype is everywhere. But even as AI populates headlines and infiltrates workflows, it’s not always clear how to use AI responsibly.

In this course designed for nonprofit workers at all levels, learn the basics of “Responsible AI,” including how to speak confidently about the principles of Responsible AI, including crucial areas such as fairness, transparency, explainability, data privacy, ethics and more.

Course participants will end the course with an understanding of how to use an AI Risk Framework to apply Responsible AI principles to common nonprofit workflows. In doing so, participants will learn how to promote responsible and ethical use of this powerful technology – lessons that will prepare participants to become stewards of Responsible AI in nonprofit organizations.

Cecilia Callas is an AI Ethicist and writer based in San Francisco, CA. Her core focus is empowering the public with content, events and resources that increase knowledge about the necessity of safe, ethical and responsible AI. Cecilia is the founder of RemAIning Human – an in-person community and Substack that examines AI development and deployment through a human-first and responsible AI lens to imagine a future where humans live in harmony with AI – rather than at the mercy of it. She is also the Co-lead of the Ai Salon – an organization that creates community and conversation around the meaning and impact of AI through curated, intimate group conversations. She also has a background in technology marketing and communications, having worked for 8+ years in roles that spanned product marketing, brand marketing and go-to-market for leading tech companies.
