AI Policy and Governance

Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday nonprofit operations—from content creation and community service to research, data analysis, and service delivery. While AI presents significant opportunities, it also introduces new risks related to privacy, security, bias, transparency, and accountability.

In this course, you'll learn how nonprofits develop a practical AI policy and governance framework to guide responsible AI adoption across the organization. Through real-world examples, reflection exercises, and implementation tools, you'll explore how to establish governance structures, define acceptable AI use, manage risks, and foster a culture of responsible innovation.

By the end of this course, you'll have a roadmap for developing AI governance practices that align with your organization's mission, values, and operational realities.

This course is informed by the real-world experience of developing and implementing an AI policy and governance framework within a province-wide information and referral network serving millions of Ontarians annually.
