The Project Coordinator is part of a collaborative and diverse NTEN team. We are all inspired by and accountable to our mission, community, and each other. The Project Coordinator is a core part of the program management team for the Nonprofit Technology Conference, our annual flagship event that convenes over 2,000 nonprofit staff, funders, technology service and product providers, and supports timely and collaborative projects across the organization year-round. The Project Coordinator position includes project management duties to support all staff on NTC project tasks and milestones, technical support duties ensuring internal project and communication tools are effectively utilized by staff, and customer service duties that support community members accessing and participating in the NTC and other programs in the ways that best work for them. The Project Coordinator reports to the Chief Program Officer and will work closely with the Communications Director, IT Director, and everyone across the organization. 

All NTEN staff work remotely with flexible schedules from their homes. The Project Coordinator, like all staff, is expected to utilize internal communication and program management tools, including Slack (internal communication tool), Asana (collaborative project management tool), and Google Workspace (external communication, file storage, calendar) to ensure collaboration across time zones.

Responsibilities include

  • With all other NTEN staff contribute to planning and producing the annual Nonprofit Technology Conference.
  • Collaborate across teams to identify ways internal systems can support organization-wide communication and collaboration related to the NTC.
  • Collaborate with other NTEN staff to identify milestones and timelines of NTC-related projects.
  • Monitor and offer support around the on-time delivery of projects related to key milestones and timelines.
  • Collaborate across teams to offer logistical support related to NTC meetings.
  • Support communication and coordination with external vendors related to NTC projects.
  • With support from others, ensure NTEN’s offerings are accessible for participants by identifying needs and implementing support.
  • Provide project management and coordination for timely projects across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of nonprofit sector or related work experience preferred.
  • Affinity for and interest in increasing skills with technology tools, including Google Apps, Salesforce, and WordPress.
  • Demonstrated success with project management and coordination of groups.
  • Demonstrated success with customer service and support roles.
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with others on common goals and projects.
  • Demonstrated success working independently to keep tasks and projects on track.
  • Ability to build constructive and effective relationships.
  • Experience communicating and working with a distributed team.
  • Based in the United States.

NTEN has no physical office, but half of the staff is in the Portland, OR, area. We hope to hire locally where in-person collaboration and support from the most number of team members is possible. Still, we are open to applicants based anywhere in the U.S. with the expectation that non-local applicants would potentially travel to Portland at most twice per year for staff planning. Domestic travel and extended hours will be required one week per year for the Nonprofit Technology Conference and may be required for other in-person events up to three times per year, depending upon the program. NTEN covers work-related travel costs. 

Salary and benefits

This is a full-time (32 hours a week) position with a starting salary of $45,000 annually. 

As of July 1, 2023, NTEN operates on a four-day week, with all staff working Monday–Thursday only.
