The primary role of the Social Media Coordinator is to promote awareness of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and the Parkinson’s Foundation mission. Working with the Communications team, the Social Media Coordinator will manage social media strategy and online community building.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the creation and publishing of relevant, high-quality, engaging written, video and photo content on the Foundation’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute the Foundation’s social media calendar and content, leveraging it as an integral component of overall communications strategy.
  • Creates digital campaigns bridging across the Foundation’s online presence, including Parkinson.org, social media and email communications.
  • Manage and update the editorial calendar to reflect Parkinson’s Foundation’s marketing strategy and communications priorities.
  • Fosters growth and engagement in our online community by responding to followers and connecting with key content creators.
  • Design social media toolkits to engage users in amplifying our programs and campaigns.
  • Leverages partnerships of the Foundation by interacting with key stakeholders’ social media accounts.
  • Collaborates on social media advertising spend to grow/engage audiences and promote Foundation events and initiatives.
  • Engages in social listening and analytics to track outcomes and recommend adjustments and new techniques, including boosting posts to amplify engagement.
  • Reports on new trends, features and data on social platforms.
  • Provides regular metrics reports to track performance of the Foundation’s online initiatives.
  • Trains designated staff in the use of and best practices for social media platforms to maximize online engagement, relationship building and social media advertising.
  • Contributes to content creation across online channels, including the Parkinson.org blog, email communications and social media.
  • Develops and assists in promotion of national signature events (Moving Day, Walk for Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s Revolution and Parkinson’s Champions, peer-to-peer fundraising).
  • Works across departments to maintain brand integrity, style guide and messaging consistency.
  • Works on special projects and serves on teams and committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Media Management, Digital Marketing, English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience; non-profit experience a plus.
  • Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools
  • Pristine grammar, copywriting, proofreading and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred
  • Knowledge of HTML preferred
  • Familiarity with photo and video editing tools and graphic design principles.
  • Excellent project management skill with ability to work on multiple detail-oriented projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with people in a variety of roles, functions and leadership levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
