The Department: Private Giving & Engagement (PG&E)
The Private Giving & Engagement (PG&E) department advances Mercy Corps’ strategic priorities by raising private funds, building meaningful relationships with supporters, and strengthening the organization’s global profile and influence. PG&E partners closely with teams across Mercy Corps to deliver innovative, ethical, and effective fundraising and engagement strategies. Within PG&E, Development Operations plays a critical role in enabling fundraising success by ensuring strong systems, sound governance, and effective operational support. The team brings together expertise in fundraising operations, compliance, analytics, systems, and project management to support high-performing fundraising teams across regions and channels.
The Position
The Senior Business Intelligence Developer supports and expands PG&E’s business intelligence solution(s), which includes a custom SQL Server-based data warehouse (on-premises) and a suite of reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Microsoft Power BI. They play a critical role in all phases of the solution’s lifecycle, including requirements gathering, data analysis and modeling, data warehouse development, ETL design and maintenance, integrating data from disparate data sources, developing and deploying reports and dashboards. As our analytics’ needs evolve, we anticipate opportunities to streamline and modernize our environment. The Senior BI Developer will help assess improvement areas within our current architecture, optimize performance, and strengthen documentation to support future scalability and long-term data strategy.
The role focuses on developing the insights, reports, and semantic models that enable analysis of fundraising performance, constituent behavior, and gift trends, with occasional use of exploratory and predictive techniques. This position engages regularly with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and validate results. Ultimately, the Senior BI Developer helps ensure the reporting and analysis needed to guide and support PG&E’s fundraising strategy and decision-making. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, relationship-driven environment and brings structure, clarity, and best practices while remaining flexible and responsive to evolving business needs.
