Park Avenue Synagogue, a large, dynamic Conservative synagogue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, seeks an innovative and enthusiastic individual for the role of Digital Communications Assistant. Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager as part of the Communications Team, the Digital Communications Assistant supports Park Avenue Synagogue’s online presence, including website, email and social media.


  • Maintain email schedule with the Communications Team, departments and volunteer groups and committees
  • Use iContact to launch all PAS email and maintain up-to-date emails lists and email templates
  • Assemble and edit weekly synagogue email newsletter: This Week at PAS
  • Manage website content; liaise with departments to ensure up-to-date and accurate information
  • With Communications Team, proactively plan content for website homepage: Spotlight, Coming Attractions, Shabbat at PAS
  • Work with departments to maintain and update content in their sections of the website
  • Manage PAS Social Media, including Facebook and Twitter and introduce PAS to other social media platforms that leverage our unique point of view
  • Write, proofread, and edit content for emails, website, and social media
  • Administer Park Avenue Podcast; upload content and implement podcast across mobile platforms
  • Review web-based registration forms to ensure consistency in look, feel, and content
  • Track, report and interpret data analytics on a regular basis and provide recommendations for new strategies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required; duties and responsibilities may be added or changed


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in digital media, communications, journalism and/or marketing
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, content management systems, social media platforms and search engine optimization; experience with HTML, Drupal, Photoshop, iContact, Salesforce, , and Form Assembly a plus
  • Adept at learning new technology
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and the talent to tailor messages to specific target audiences
  • Sound judgment, ability to think strategically and solve problems, and capable of managing multiple projects and tasks at one time
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines
  • Open and receptive to ideas and feedback
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment with changing demands and expectations; open to new things and to working outside of the job description
  • Familiarity with Jewish holidays and customs and synagogue life a plus
