Navigating the internet with mis and disinformation

Between social media, generative artificial intelligence, and politically charged breaking news cycles, the internet can be a treacherous place for finding reliable information. How do we as internet users build up our skills and practices for identifying mis and disinformation? And, how can nonprofit organizations be trusted information sources for their communities and the media in response?

At this month's tech club event, we'll work together to test our abilities at identifying real and fabricated content, and discuss the implications for our work. Whether you consider yourself an expert or completely overwhelmed, you are welcome!

Agenda:
  • 5:00 doors open, room set up
  • 5:15 networking
  • 5:30 - 6:30 group game and discussion
  • 6:30 - 6:50 networking
  • 6:50 - 7:00 clean up
