Learning and development in nonprofit data and tech

A great data and tech culture may only be as good as the organization's overall learning and development culture. It's because you need exponentially more skills, knowledge, and experiences each day to use data and technology for mission and impact. So how can you keep up? How do you keep staff engaged if they don't consider themselves techies? How do you support and manage data and tech learning, even when it isn't your thing?

In this course, you'll learn the answers to these questions and more as we dive very, very deep into learning cultures specifically for data and technology in mission-driven work.

The pre-reading for this course will give you the shared language to talk about learning and development within organizations. It will also get you thinking about different approaches and opportunities for learning in general and how to apply those insights to this topic.

You'll look at practices in the workplace, including experiences shared by others taking the course. Then you'll create a matrix to help choose the most effective and enjoyable paths for individual learning styles across your organization.

As your course homework, you can choose to create a learning and development plan for yourself or an individual on your team, for your team, or for your entire organization.
