Job Summary
The Digital Optimization Specialist will be the knowledgeable, strategic, results-oriented leader who understands the needs of the agency and our diverse audiences; manages the planning, execution, and analysis of cross-channel tests; presents data-supported opportunities for structural and/or content optimization; and ensures those opportunities are pursued. They will leverage Search Engine Marketing (SEM) for sustainable click-through traffic, and lead Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts for long-term, organic growth.

They will also be a key stakeholder affirming and supporting the best practice construction of CRS’ new digital platform replacing much of our current external web ecosystem along with other stakeholders across the agency and our external vendor partners.

Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Work with site owners and other stakeholders to define online conversion goals, develop and implement measurement plans, utilize conversion-based reports, and present optimization strategies
- Plan and lead A/B and multivariate testing strategies to boost online conversion rates
- Identify structural and content-based SEO opportunities, and lead the follow-through
- Develop and execute a sustainable SEO/SEM strategy for long term, organic search growth
- Collaborate with US-facing divisional colleagues to measure, report, and optimize digital campaign conversions for multiple channels including advertising, Google Adwords (SEM), email, and social media to ensure comprehensive online outreach and to inform agency decisions
- Provide thought leadership on best practices related to web analytics, A/B and multivariate testing search engine optimization, and search engine marketing
- Build and maintain dashboards for internal MarCom teams and Digital stakeholders
- Create insights from data that will be of use to internal groups and external stakeholders.
- Resolves elevated issues arising from daily activities.
- Evaluates and recommends modifications to existing policies and procedures and contributes to the ongoing development of department operations.
- Proactively identifies and recommends the need for new or enhanced procedures.
- Applies acquired expertise to analyze and resolve problems without clear precedence.
- Addresses issues with impact beyond own area of specialization based on knowledge of related disciplines.
- Manage vendors who execute SEM campaigns
- Participate in industry-related development groups and communities to create optimal opportunities for learning resources and knowledge sharing
- Mentor, support, and coach colleagues to keep staff up to date on online best practices
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of six years of work experience in data and analytics, preferably for an advocacy or non-profit organization
- Minimum of six years of work experience in an analytical or consulting services role, with an emphasis on interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
1-3 years’ experience managing vendors
Minimum of two years of work experience with SEM and Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
- Excellent project management capabilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, use independent judgment and follow-through with minimal supervision
- Deep understanding of marketing funnels and user flows in digital contexts, particularly for fundraising conversions
- Expert knowledge of digital marketing analytics infrastructure, methodology, reporting, and tools (e.g., Excel, Google Analytics, Hotjar, Google Tag Manager)
- Understanding of digital engagement and fundraising CRMs like EveryAction or Blackbaud
- Expertise exploring datasets using Excel, Tableau, SPSS, SQL, R or Stata
- Excellent data analysis, statistics, and reporting skills, A/B and multivariate testing experience including experimental design and analyzing results
- Demonstrated capacity to visualize data and distill large data sets into germane takeaways
- Experience developing and executing SEO/SEM campaigns using reporting tools (e.g., Moz.com, Screaming Frog, BrightEdge)
- The ability to use data to tell a compelling story to stakeholders.
- Focused; a self-starter with experience working in a very fast paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Reporting experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology, and willingness to bridge the gap between CRM data and data stored in other systems
- Ability to manage the flow of data between CRM donor database, Content Management System (CMS)
- Ability to streamline and improve data systems
- Experience migrating and integrating datasets across multiple platforms, e.g., integrating supporter/constituent data and web metrics tracked separately
- Google certifications for Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, or other relevant areas
- Spanish speaking a plus
- Demonstrated working knowledge of: (1) Catholic Church organizational structures and (2) Catholic Social Teaching.
