Facing History and Ourselves is a global education non-profit organization that challenges teachers and students to use lessons of history to stand up to bigotry and hate.
We are seeking a Manager, Event Platforms to join our growing Digital team. Manager, Event Platforms is a central role at Facing History and Ourselves that will stewards Facing History’s continued investment in our Digital Experience Platform—a suite of technology solutions—designed to support the work of internal and external end users and ensure Facing History meetings strategic goals.

We govern all processes and procedures which deliver change to those tools and applications, with a view to minimizing incidents and risk while operating efficiently and responsively.

Our digital properties exist across a range of technologies, including Drupal 9, Salesforce, Hubspot, and Canvas LMS to support our user-facing digital product and experiences, including resources, community, and professional learning events.

You regularly communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs, hopes, and fears, synthesize those needs into a coherent, evolving product roadmap, and work with internal and external experts to deliver solutions to meet those needs. You take an empathetic, inclusive, relationships-driven, communication approach when working with colleagues to ensure their ever-improving use of and satisfaction with our digital experience platform and connected tools.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Own and manage the improvement and maintenance of our portfolio of platforms, applications, and integrations that support event production and management, including Blackthorn Events (Salesforce), FormAssembly (Salesforce), Canvas LMS, ON24 Events, alongside Single Sign-On (SSO), and Zapier integrations.
- Aminstrating, building, customizing, and providing peer review and oversight for events.
- Prioritize high-value fixes and improvements, and improve overall function.
- Support internal and external users to learn and use platforms and applications effectively by developing training, on-demand and live, and maintaining documentation.
- Engage in strategic thinking and planning about processes, vision, and improvements.
- Seek out and gather feedback related to the event production and management experience; understand the evolving needs of the organization, and synthesize these needs into a well-managed product roadmap.
- Experience facilitating interactive sessions to gather requirements and feedback with audiences of varying technical knowledge.
- Engage in consistent communication with staff and executive leaders to understand priorities and roll out decision points and change milestones.
- Engage external experts and actively manage relationships to maintain a healthy, productive functional improvement cycle.
- Partner with finance to ensure payment gateways and options are configured correctly, streamlined, and maintained over time.
- Partner with the Data Management team to execute under-the-hood configurations in Salesforce, such as configuration, workflow automation, technical adjustments, and other improvements.
- Partner with Information Technology and Data Management teams, formalizing our team’s platform research, procurement, implementation, and maintenance processes.
- Support platform operations and delivery models by defining goals, key performance indicators, roles and responsibilities, and service level agreements.
- Partner with the Product and Experience Design team to conduct A/B testing to optimize our technology solutions.
- Carry out and oversee quality assurance testing.
- Manage or execute research on third-party integrated tools and develop relevant expertise to maintain them.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

- 1+ years of Salesforce administration experience, and familiarities with common integrations, like Blackthorn Events and FormAssembly, preferred.
