Organizational Overview

Collective Power for Reproductive Justice (https://collectivepowerrj.org/) is a national reproductive rights and justice organization dedicated to educating, mentoring, and inspiring new generations of advocates, leaders, and supporters. Combining activism, organizing, leadership training, and reproductive rights movement building, Collective Power promotes an inclusive agenda that advances reproductive rights and health, and social and economic justice.

Collective Power is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

The Finance Manager oversees the financial health and sustainability of the organization. They will implement strategic, managerial, and transactional financial management practices to support Collective Power’s functioning as an independent nonprofit, maintain accounting records and internal controls per generally accepted accounting principles, and manage day-to-day accounting functions. As a member of the management team, the Finance Manager plays a critical role in guiding Collective Power’s financial future while contributing to strategic planning and organizational leadership. 

Financial Management – 70%

  • Oversee and direct accounting, budgeting, audit, and long-range forecasting activities;
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute annual budget development, and lead forecasting process;
  • Develop and deliver timely and accurate financial reports and analyses to support decision-making across the organization and build the financial literacy of the team in the process;
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decisions affecting the organization, such as evaluation of potential partnerships, business challenges, and financial investments;
  • Oversee all grants and contracts management and ensure compliance;
  • Work to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of operational accounting services such as accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing;
  • Formulate and recommend sound fiscal policies, systems, procedures, and forms. Oversees the development of and adherence to internal control policies;
  • Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government regulations and other applicable laws and requirements governing foundations and charitable organizations;

 Strategic Planning and Fiscal Oversight – 20%

  • Advise the Executive Director and other key members of the senior leadership team on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investments, and operational policy matters;
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic goals and objectives, as well as the overall management of the organization, maintaining continuous lines of communication and keeping leadership and staff informed of all critical and/or relevant issues;
  • Represent the organization externally, particularly in relationships with core vendors, legal counsel, public accountants, auditors, and other operational partners.

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

  • 8-10 years of aligned professional experience;
  • Advanced degree in Business Administration or Finance or CPA a plus, but not required;
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis;
  • Experience with nonprofit financial management, including accounting, regulations, compliance, grant management, and reporting;
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, Sage Intacct) and demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement new systems;
  • Strong leadership and management skills; previous supervisory experience;
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to staff, board, and other stakeholders in an accessible manner;
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, responsible and self-motivated, and able to multi-task and problem solve;
  • Alignment with mission and values; understanding of reproductive justice movement politics and history;
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds, including people with different racial, ethnic, and class backgrounds, people of different genders, and people with disabilities.

Additional Requirements

 Must be able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends and overnight travel throughout the year to national and international conferences, convenings, trainings, and board meetings.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate;
  • Job is not subject to significant occupational or environmental hazards;

Compensation and Benefits

Location: Work will be primarily performed remotely. 

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $95,000 - $105,000 / year and is commensurate with experience. Collective Power observes a 32-hour work week.
