What we’re looking for:
The ideal candidate will have personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and attention to detail as well as the ability to demonstrate discretion, professional judgment, and support of the SDHS mission and organization decisions. In addition to the above requirements, you’re a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker with experience in web development/administration, domain management, and the ability to manage and meet multiple project deadlines in a fast-paced, growing organization.
Other relevant experience should include an understanding of social networking and social media as it relates to fundraising, as well as strong collaboration and organizational skills and gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting information to management and organization stakeholders.
Location: Supporting all campuses, but based at our San Diego Campus. This position has the potential for remote work some days of the week.
Pay: Starting range is between $69,300 – $78,000 annually. Salary will be determined by your related education and experience.

What you’ll do:
Web Administration & Online Giving
- Responsible for development, implementation, optimization, functionality, management and maintenance of SDHS’ websites and web assets. Annually builds the TeamRaiser websites for the Walk for Animals – North County, Walk for Animals – San Diego, and San Diego Humane Society Day of Giving.
- Proposes and implements ideas for website features, promotions, organization of content and the integration of digital content across platforms.
- Manages the timely development, quarterly review, and ongoing updating of web content in collaboration with communications staff partners and routinely audits websites to ensure accuracy of text (content, style and grammar), functionality of links, that content is refreshed, and make edits/updates as needed or requested.
- Proactively administers digital content management systems, including completing regular content and data maintenance to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and optimum integration of digital platforms like Luminate CMS, Luminate Online and MindTouch, and software applications such as WooBox, ShelterBuddy, Mindbody, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Ensures all websites fulfill SDHS organizational requirements, i.e. operating hours, FAQs, program and services info, calendar of activities, etc.
- Stays current with web design trends and best practices.
Digital Marketing
- Primary resource for creating and deploying email in Luminate Online in support of external communications, fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship efforts, and other objectives as needed.
- Manage, monitor, evaluate and optimize usage of Google Grant and Google Paid Ad accounts.
- Monitors Google Analytics to evaluate, interpret and present monthly tracking reports to better understand online user traffic, methods to increase web use for individuals seeking answers to their questions or solutions to their problems, new opportunities, and methods to maximize fundraising, awareness and effectiveness of programs.
Leadership/Team Management
- Serves as a resource and back up to the Digital Communications Specialist – Online Giving in the maintenance and utilization of the Luminate Online digital communications platform.
- Serves as a back up to the Digital Communications Specialist – Social Media for the management of San Diego Humane Society’s social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Contribute to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a cohesive team that promotes personal and departmental growth.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a relevant field is required. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- A minimum of three (3) years full-time paid experience as a web administrator managing an established, professional website and/or managing online fundraising platform or other online content production software is required.
- Must possess current knowledge of web publishing, ability to understand and interpret metrics and usage patterns, a strong working knowledge of SEO, HTML, CSS, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and Google Ads. Google Ads, HubSpot, or DMI certifications are preferred.
- Bilingual-Spanish language skills a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved by SDHS insurance carrier to drive a company or personal vehicle for work purposes.
