Data Analyst

The data analyst will be part of HOPE’s data analytics team. In this role, the data analyst will develop dashboards and reports required by HOPE departments across the organization to provide insights into data trends and improve operational effectiveness. The analyst will utilize Power BI, SQL, and statistics knowledge (with R or Python capabilities strongly preferred) to complete this work in collaboration with other data analytics team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International

Data Analysis and Consultation to Global Network of Programs

  • Leverage data analytics best practices, Power BI, and SQL knowledge to conduct thorough analyses of complex data from field programs across the globe; extract important insights and clearly communicate key findings to HOPE leadership
  • Develop analytical models and dashboards from field-level portfolio data for HOPE’s Microfinance and Savings Group departments to achieve strategic plan goals
  • Support HOPE’s Listening, Monitoring & Evaluation and Microfinance teams with statistical analyses of field evaluations, survey results, and operational data to communicate program impact to donors and improve operational pain-points
  • Clearly communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences across HOPE
  • Train global HOPE staff on Power BI to further self-service analysis capabilities across the organization; enhance field program staff’s ability to knowledgeably use key field data applications and reporting systems
  • Consult with other HOPE departments such as Finance, Internal Audit, Marketing and Development in the development and implementation of new tools and dashboards
  • Manage and effectively prioritize your portfolio of data analytics projects using excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Document and help standardize how HOPE performs comparative data analysis; suggest improvements in tools and techniques
  • Distill and present significant analysis findings to HOPE leadership

Technology Team Analysis and Support

  • Work with leaders to prioritize technical assistance challenges and generate creative solutions
  • Work collaboratively with the data applications team as needed to develop data warehouses, potentially including application research, project management support, system integration, development of reporting tools, and quality assurance monitoring
  • Manage relationships within interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams including technology, finance, and field program staff; as well as external entities such as vendors, consultants, donors, and partner organizations

  • Perform other data analytics and technical assistance functions as necessary, including responding to information requests from other departments

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, finance, or related field
  • 1-2+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, computer science, or related disciplines; experience with financial analysis preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in microfinance, international development, and financial services
  • Technical proficiency in SQL required
  • Experience leveraging R or Python to conduct statistical analyses
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Power BI preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with other Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Basic finance/accounting knowledge; ability to conduct business and financial analysis and prepare synthesized recommendations for presentation to leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; self-starter attitude in the face of complex challenges
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Impeccable organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines
  • Ability to speak French proficiently strongly preferred
  • Cross-cultural experience preferred
