After a decade of learning, laughing, and yes, dancing, at NTEN, I have decided to step down as NTEN’s Executive Director.
While my decision came about rather quickly, my transition has been well-planned by an amazing Board of Directors, and our remarkable staff are here to carry the torch and keep NTEN’s programs and services running smoothly. I know I am leaving NTEN in great hands when I officially leave on January 31, 2013 to begin my new role as Executive Director of the Drupal Association.
Leaving NTEN was a terribly difficult decision for me. In many ways, I feel like I’ve grown up with you all. I got married, had a kid, bought a house, and watched my hair start to turn gray while here.
I am tremendously proud of the work we’ve done together at NTEN. We’ve built a strong community of over 10,000 members, created some amazing research and publications, and developed a fantastic conference. Most importantly, I’ve made some great friends. We’ve shared bacon recipes, beers, and more than a few moments of inspiration and awe. You’ve inspired me and taught me and made me a better person.
Thank you so much for all the gifts you’ve shared with me.
Of course, as much as NTEN has changed in the last ten years, more change is required. NTEN has the opportunity to build new programs and bring in new voices in the near future to meet the changing needs of our members. Now is the perfect time for us to find a new leader, with fresh ideas and fresh perspectives. I fully believe that this change will allow NTEN to reach its full potential during this exciting time.
Starting today, our CFO/COO Jill Farrow will serve as Interim Executive Director, and Amy Sample Ward will be our point person for community communications and relations. If you need anything at all, or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. And of course, we’ll be sharing updates in the process along the way.
I’ll be helping with the transition and wrapping up a few projects until the end of January, and hope that we can use this time to ensure that we stay in touch as I move on.
