Pushing the Boundaries with Mobile

The U.S. is mobile—literally. Mobile penetration in America is above 100 percent (CTIA). Even as people increase their number of mobile devices, many nonprofits are still hesitant about adding mobile to their organization’s initiatives. Misperceptions such as what tools are available through mobile for data collection, engagement and fundraising cause nonprofits to incorrectly believe that mobile can be a lot of work with little return.

2012 Nonprofit Donor Engagement Study

NTEN partnered with Charity Dynamics to conduct the 2012 Nonrprofit Donor Engagement Study. This donor-focused study gathered feedback from consumers spanning a wide range of giving levels ($25 - $5,000+) who donated to a nonprofit in the past 12 months. Survey questions sought to understand understand individuals' preferences regarding traditional and digital media for donating, volunteering, and engaging with nonprofits. > Download the study online here.

Hosting Nonprofit CRM Donor Systems in the Cloud

There is a fair amount of discussion about the “cloud” when it comes to nonprofits and their technological next steps. We hear about the iCloud, Google Apps, Amazon, and other solutions that draw on the language of the “cloud” to describe what they do. You may also hear this referred to as “Online”, “Hosted”, or “Web Based” software. Yet what exactly is the cloud? In short, it is a buzzword that refers to software and services that can be accessed via the internet that do not require software to be installed on your local computer or network. There are a multitude of configurations with many vendors offering services that can be considered “cloud-based.” The Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) has a helpful definition of the cloud, stating, “Any software accessed over the Internet can be considered cloud software, including everything from Facebook to broadcast email tools … to online accounting systems and constituent databases.”

Microsites for Nonprofit Fundraisers

A fundraising microsite is a dedicated website where nonprofit organizations can share information about an upcoming fundraising campaign, manage participant registrations, collect donations online, and more. Utilizing a microsite can not only make hosting an online fundraising campaign easier for the organizers, but also provide a place for participants, volunteers, sponsors and community members to engage. A microsite also allows administrators to collect and store information from sponsors, donors, participants, and volunteers, as well as create various reports to determine how successful the fundraising campaign was executed in order to improve planning in future campaigns.
