Director of Communications
Physicians for Human RightsDeDe Dunevant oversees all communications efforts at Physicians for Human Rights, including publications, media relations, and digital communications. She has overseen an update to the organizational identity as well as a complete overhaul of the website and digital advocacy and fundraising toolsets. Her communications career spans twenty years and includes experience in the fields of drug policy reform, education, international volunteerism, and global public health.
Before coming to PHR, Dunevant was managing director of communications for the Drug Policy Alliance, where she led the organization in a comprehensive rebranding process and development of an integrated communications practice.
Prior to the Drug Policy Alliance, Dunevant served as the senior marketing official for the Peace Corps, where she managed the creation of a recruitment communications campaign that included production of collateral print materials, a recruitment video, and public-service announcements for television, radio, digital, and print. She also worked as a program manager for Population Services International overseeing a social marketing portfolio of reproductive health products in seven countries in West and Central Africa. Previously, she taught English for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa.
Originally from Los Angeles, Dunevant holds a BA in French and linguistics from the University of California Los Angeles. She is fluent in French.
