The field of product management has grown significantly in the private sector, as Product Managers continue to demonstrate the crucial role they play in delivering technology solutions for their organizations and the people they serve. Product management has also gained traction in the government, with teams like the U.S. Digital Service and 18F recruiting Product Managers to improve the way federal agencies deliver services to the American people through technology. But what about in nonprofits?
This session will address the current state of product management in the nonprofit sector, while shedding light on the realities, challenges, and strengths of nonprofits that are building technology solutions. Two nonprofit product leaders will also join the session, speaking to these areas firsthand and the ways in which product management has accelerated product development in their own organizations. Lastly, the session will touch on where non-profits go from here – more specifically, how they might build out product management capacity in their organizations with support of the larger non-profit tech ecosystem (i.e. philanthropy, nonprofit tech communities like NTEN).
