22NTC Session: IT
APIs for Newbies, Non-Techies and Nonprofits
Submitted by: Emily Hicks-Rotella | Make Tech Work For You

You’ve heard of them, you’ve asked about them, you’ve used them a hundred times a day without even realizing or thinking about them – they are APIs and they are busting out of the background and into the mainstream for non-profits and non-techies, too. In this short session we will get everyone on the same page about the what, why, when, where, who, and how to use APIs (and integrations in general) for mission-driven work. Don’t know what an API is? Don’t Google it – there is way too much to take in all at once. Instead, come learn the basics in 30-mins and get excited about what comes next. We’ll also look at “no code” systems that use APIs to make them awesome (like Zapier and IFTTT).
