20NTC Session Proposal

You Raised How Much with SMS?!?

As email open rates drop, we must continue to innovate and come up with new ways to reach donors. But how? Start a mobile program!

Why invest in mobile? It can be used for fundraising, advocacy, and pretty much any other goal you have for interacting with your supporters. Not to mention, you’ll get much higher open rates than email—and building out a text message takes a fraction of the time for building out an email.

In this session, you will learn how to launch a mobile program, and what the best practices are for this growing channel, from a panel of experts who have worked on mobile programs for large and small organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign and Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

During this session, you’ll learn the ins and outs of the Human Rights Campaign’s mobile program, which has been on the forefront of mobile fundraising and advocacy since launching in 2007. In 2017, HRC raised over $200,000 through their mobile program, and bombarded political offices with over 250,000 calls, and simultaneously created opportunities to engage with their supporters. And they also launched a Facebook messenger bot and a peer-to-peer texting program.

You’ll learn how you can apply lessons learned and best practices from these different types of mobile programs to your organization—no matter the size.
