The Challenge of In-Kind Donations: Matching, Tracking and Reporting

Nonprofit organizations are often challenges by the distributing in-kind donations.  Such activity, which is very often at the core of their mission, includes the identification, selection, and location of inventoried donations that best match a member’s need. Subsequently, the accurate tracking of recipient-level data for efficacy reporting back to donors and funders is also a source of significant burdens.

Overly complex inventory management systems or spreadsheets do little to help nonprofits with limited technology budgets or people power. Most of those systems were designed for large-scale commercial use and simply not tailored to the needs of nonprofits. Relying on volunteers for technical means you need simple, purpose-built solution that won’t tax your precious resources.

This session will detail the challenges that nonprofits encounter in in-kind inventory management, how to start solving those challenges, and methods to more easily create donor-to-member impact reports.
