The Best Tech Startup Practices to Help Your Mission

Submitted by: Dahna Goldstein | New America

Description

A lot of ink and airtime is given to tech startups creating the latest cat video app, but it’s nonprofits that are on the front lines of delivering world-changing services and products. While the dynamics of the business and nonprofit sectors are different, there are some things that the best tech startups do particularly well that can benefit nonprofits when applied correctly.

This session will provide a framework, as well as specific tools, for applying some of those tech startup techniques in mission-driven environments.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to further mission with new services/products
  • Apply a minimum viable product framework to new tools, services, and interventions
  • Learn from “customers”—both constituents and donors—to consistently improve
