Show, Don’t Tell: Mapping for Advocacy Projects

Description

Discussing and dissecting ways to effectively and efficiently use maps to provide great data visualization and increase engagement.

A picture (or a map, in this case) speaks a thousand words: we’ll show you several great examples of mapping projects that resulted in big wins for nonprofits and review critical questions to ponder before approaching your technical team.

National Trust for Historic Preservation will discuss how best to draw supporters to a mapping project and keep them engaged once they arrive. Cornershop Creative will dive into the technical considerations of mapping advocacy projects for Center for Food Safety (whose incredibly successful campaign and participation map convinced both Pop Secret and Pop Weaver to stop using bee-killing pesticides on their corn), PennEnvironment (whose successful Toxic Ten project has created higher levels of engagement around air quality in the Allegheny County than they’ve ever seen), and more!
