20NTC Session Proposal

How to Tell a Great Data Story to Executives

You already know you’re a rock star at creating programs for your organization, and the awesome anecdotal feedback you’ve received from participants and teammates shows it. But what happens when an executive knocks on your door, asking for proof of program or even organizational impact? Oh and also, she needs you to deliver that proof in the form of a five-minute data-driven presentation to the senior staff and board.

This session will focus on telling concise, compelling stories with program data, including insights on collecting data in the first place that’s easy to work with, finding data gems, and constructing a clear impact narrative that’s easy to present. Attendees will walk away knowing how to tell a compelling data story that’s geared at what executives care about and can inform organizational strategy.

Learning Outcomes

  • Collect meaningful data about a program's impact from multiple angles
  • Identify the most compelling data points based on organizational priorities
