20NTC Session Proposal

How to re-org your team around product without breaking it

Last year, Chemical & Engineering News formed a cross-functional product team as part of an effort to bring a product mindset to its organization. The team has transformed the way C&EN manages newsroom product strategy, research, and development, and it has become a model of change management and agility for C&EN’s parent organization, the American Chemical Society. Join us in this hands-on session to learn why we built our team, how we’ve achieved stakeholder alignment, and what we’ve learned in a year of running product sprints.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn about a new approach to product development at Chemical & Engineering News
  • Participate in a stakeholder alignment exercise
  • Ask questions about forming new teams, managing product development, and scaling processes

Target Audience

Tech managers and team leads who'd like to work better with other teams, organization leaders who want to break silos
