Growing Your Mission: What Nonprofits Can Learn From Social Entrepreneurship

There’s more overlap between what works for nonprofits and for-profits than people might assume. Social entrepreneurship offers new approaches to solve social problems. Like nonprofits, it is passion-driven and mission-oriented. It is also driven by innovation when it comes to creating new services, new distribution methods, and new organizational models. Nonprofits can learn a great deal about social enterprises’ capacity to innovate. This session will show how the social innovation movement provides an opportunity for nonprofits to move the best ideas forward by taking more risks and thinking out of the box. We will present practical ways of incorporating the entrepreneurship spirit into nonprofit work.
