Building Better and Better Looking Reports with your Donor Data

Submitted by: Taj Carson | Inciter, Inc

Having data about donors and fundraising strategies is only the beginning. To make the most of it (no matter what data system you are using) you need to know the key strategies for mining the data, and some basics about how to visualize that data to get the most out of it.

We will help you develop your data strategy, and think through the audience for your reports. This includes using donor data to develop funding strategies, cultivate relationships, and do A/B testing of campaigns. We will dig into issues like how to calculate outputs, data hygiene, and standard versus ad hoc reports. Finally, what’s it all for is you can’t visualize and understand the data in your donor database? You will learn how to select chart types, highlight key findings in your data, and get rid of distracting elements so that you can clearly and effectively communicate with data.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the audiences and what they need from donor databases.
  • Develop a reporting framework to ensure that they can get the answers they need from their data system.
  • Understand the basics of data visualization as a component of reporting.

Target Audience
