Tools for Creating Budget-Friendly Social Videos

You have a great video idea for social content, but you can’t spend thousands of dollars on an editor or fancy animation. You may not even have nice-looking b-roll or good photos. This session will focus on how to create video content using free, relatively easy-to-use tools. You’ll walk away knowing how to create simple videos that help drive toward your digital goals.

Burness

Hi! I’m Katie.

I’m a native North Carolinian, perennial optimist, former middle school teacher, and current digital strategist and video producer.

At Burness, I work with nonprofits across issues—from education to health to climate change and more—to help them communicate their work in simple, compelling ways. I then work with our amazing creative strategy team to figure out how to help amplify those messages, whether that’s through video, social media, partner engagement, email, websites or something else entirely.

I graduated from Duke University with a degree in international studies and history. Since then, I’ve been a teacher, education program coordinator at a small nonprofit, global media consultant, and video producer. (I also got married and had a kid, who is now 18 months!) My work has taken me to all sorts of places—from the Amazon to Appalachia to the Bronx to Switzerland—but my heart is in the American South, where I was born and raised.

I’m passionate about good stories, and I believe that video can be a powerful awareness and persuasion tool. It can be pretty expensive, though, so part of my job is to advise nonprofits on how to create video content that doesn’t break the bank.

I’m looking forward to my first NTEN and can’t wait to meet everyone!
