Transitioning to training online seems like a no-brainer, but what are the considerations when you take activities that were meant to happen in a group setting and move them into a learning management system? It’s important to select a training program to better meet the changing needs of trainers and learners. Liza J. Dyer, CVA, has been working and volunteering in the nonprofit and public sectors for more than 15 years. She is currently a Volunteer Services Program Coordinator at Multnomah County Library, a public library system in Portland, Oregon which engages over 2,000 community members as library volunteers each year. Liza has previously worked in museums and science centers where she taught people about science, led teams of citizen scientists, and talked about whales (almost) every day. When not at work, Liza can be found knitting, reading, exploring, and volunteering in the community. She is proud to be an AmeriCorps alum and Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA). Jesse is the Curriculum Manager at Samaschool, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that equips people with the skills they need to succeed as freelancers and leverage independent work to achieve their career goals. As Curriculum Manager, he designs and implements in-person, virtual, and self-paced versions of Samaschool’s core freelance training, creates digital tools for freelancers, and manages alumni engagement. Jesse holds a BA in Political Science from Vassar College, and an MA in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of Geneva, Switzerland.

Amber Carroll is the Director of Well Connected, a Covia Community Service. Well Connected aims to increase social connection and lifelong learning opportunities for older adults across the country. Using technology as a tool, older adults are able to engage in group activities as participants and/or volunteers – all from the comfort of home.
Before coming to Covia in 2015, Amber led the San Francisco Transitional Care Program, a CMS-demonstration project that successfully decreased hospital readmissions for Medicare recipients. Her career in aging services began at the San Francisco Aging and Disability Resource Center which provided information, referral, and assistance to nearly 10,000 seniors and adults with disabilities each year. Amber is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and holds a MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco.

Eric is a Kansas native with a background in teaching at the high school and college level. As a lecturer at the University of Kansas, Eric was the College Algebra course coordinator, supervising a staff of teaching assistants and tutors. While at KU, Eric oversaw the development of a blended learning classroom that combined short instructional videos and group activities to help learners at all levels.
With a focus on curriculum development, Eric hopes to build upon the strong foundation at CTN and continue to support and motivate volunteers and those working to bridge the digital divide.

Jeremy has helped raise over $100 million online for nonprofits through his work leading digital strategy at multiple fundraising agencies. His book, The Digital Fundraising Blueprint, landed at #1 on Amazon’s Nonprofit book chart during its debut week, and has been a best-seller in its category ever since. Jeremy also created an online course, Digital Fundraising Blueprint, designed to provide a one-stop resource for nonprofits to increase their knowledge in digital fundraising. The course is eligible for continuing education credits, providing 4.5 CFRE points upon completion. In addition, Jeremy has contributed articles to Forbes.com about nonprofit fundraising. His goal is to arm nonprofits with more knowledge on how to raise money online so that their impact is maximized.
