Ignites are fun, fast-paced, thought-provoking presentations delivered on the main stage. This is your opportunity to share your insights and passions with the whole NTC community.

But, there’s a catch: you are strictly limited to five minutes and 20 slides, which advance automatically every 15 seconds. This is not a sales pitch. It’s a passion pitch. It’s an opportunity to tell your story on the main stage and inspire 2,200 other nonprofit professionals like you.

Examples and Inspiration

Looking for an example or inspiration for your application? Watch Ignite presentations from 2019, 2018, and 2017 (and beyond)!

Proposals will be accepted from July 8 to August 11, 2019. Unlike the general education sessions, there will be no public voting for the Ignite proposals and there is no ability to see what others have submitted. Proposals are reviewed by an internal team.

Notifications about final selection will be sent on the same day as general session proposals, September 30, 2019.

20NTC Theme

This year the Ignite theme asks, “How have you used technology or the internet to make change in your organization, the community, or the world?”

Successful Ignite presentations focus on one story and often mix personal and professional experiences or lessons. We’ve had stories about job interviews, organizational change, returning to work after the birth of a child, policy change campaigns, and side projects turned careers.

The NTC is a place where we talk about technology and how to use it in so many ways. The Ignite presentations are your chance to talk about using technology for real change, inspiring others to think differently, plan boldly, and make an impact.

  • We suggest using the template of "How I ____ to ____." Like, How I built a database for my community garden to increase what we grew and feed more families; or How I ran a Twitter campaign that changed my Governor's opinion.
  • Please share a short overview of your intended content. Don't worry, we won't share this and spoil your talk!
  • Do you have a central lesson or a few highlights? Please share here the idea/s you want the audience to remember from your talk.
  • In alignment with our values and Equity Commitment, we place a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of our programs, with a focus on racial equity. We're actively seeking people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or other people of color, as well as gender nonconforming, having a disability, LGBTQ+, and other under-represented community members to present NTC Ignite talks. Please use this space to self-identify if you feel comfortable doing so. This is not required.
