Monica S. Flores has focused on web design and development since 2004. She consults through 10K Webdesign, where she primarily works on projects as a senior adviser and lead developer: clarifying goals, communicating technical needs, creating functional specifications, architecting the database, producing wireframes, and implementing cost-effective solutions. She is committed to open source solutions, primarily the Drupal platform, which is in widespread use for government, education, community organizations, and non-profits. Her interest is in creating positive social change through supporting green and sustainably-focused organizations.
She has been a primary developer, product manager, and digital director on websites for governmental agencies, state and local non-profit organizations, membership groups, and e-commerce for organizations including Green America, Ashoka Changemakers, Castro Valley Sanitary District, the West Contra Costa Integrated Waste Management Authority, The Sperm Bank of California, Art With Impact, and the Princeton Southern Ocean Carbon and Climate Observations and Modeling project. A frequent blogger, she published Fifty-one Ways to Build your Community of Clients Online (2008), Social Networking for Women in Business (2009) and Thirty Steps to Starting your Green Business (2010).
