The Morton Arboretum’s Information Technology Department is seeking someone with good management, technical, and communication skills to join their team. You will work with a diverse group of tree enthusiasts across multiple departments of this growing organization. The IT department provides technological solutions for new and existing Arboretum business needs through effective collaboration with all Arboretum stakeholders. This is an amazing opportunity to learn and further develop skills in computers and technology to make the Arboretum exceptional!

Position Summary: Serve as project coordinator for the Information Technology department. Work with Arboretum departments, external consultants, and vendors to coordinate various components needed to initiate, execute, and successfully conclude Information Technology projects. Assist with the annual budget development process and monthly budget review. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide project coordination for institutional IT projects by setting project goals and developing plans for how to meet those goals. Develop and maintain project timeframes, budgeting estimates, and status reports. Prioritize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and provide status reports in a timely manner. 
  • Conduct internet and on-site research as needed and organize and maintain updated project files.
  • Schedule project meetings,track progress;and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Act as the point of contact for IT projects and communicate project status to all participants.
  • Work with the Director of Information Technology to evaluate project progress and identify challenges and solutions.
  • Track department and project expenses monthly and assist with the annual budget process.
  • As needed, assist in planning and scheduling meetings for the Information Technology department, as well as recording and distributing meeting minutes when needed.
  • Serve as a central hub for departmental communication and general administrative support. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3+ years of relevant project coordination experience with complex, deadline oriented projects preferred. High level confidentiality, organizational skills, detail orientation, strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to work in a team environment with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as external consultants and vendors required.Strong communication, computer and internet research skills required. Proficiency with Google applications strongly preferred.

Ability to nimbly manage complex tasks and concurrent projects, effective time-management skills, and a positive and flexible approach to the job.   • Work Environment: Work is primarily performed indoors in an office setting. This position is designated as a hybrid-eligible position, allowing for some work to be performed off premise, during regular hours of work.
