Greater Public is a membership-based nonprofit that gives public media fundraisers the tools and confidence to support their organizations and move their careers forward. We go out of our way to delight our members and coax them to new heights with trusted, forward-thinking practices. We’re looking for a full-time staff member who will oversee the implementation of expanded digital and individual giving support services for our members.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Member Station Services, you will also work in conjunction with the membership and major giving advisors to create a streamless strategy to serve the 250+ organizations that are members of Greater Public. Along with orchestrating this work, you will be the primary advisor for digital fundraising. In this newly created role, your ideas and expertise will be relied on to build this influential position.   • Salary range for this position is $70,000 – $75,000. 

Responsibilities:

  • Create learning opportunities, workshops, services, tools, and research projects to help Greater Public members increase engagement and revenue for their public media organizations with a focus on digital opportunities. Identify and work with vendors and other partners beyond public media to bring best practices, tools and research to our members.
  • Provide both inbound and outbound membership/individual giving advisory services to Greater Public members. This includes: follow-up on advisory contacts, outreach to new staff at member stations; and coordination with the member-relations team to identify members who could benefit from a contact.
  • Lead and organize Greater Public cohort groups. Organize and facilitate conference calls for these groups. Review results of cohort conversations and make suggestions for service refinements. Look for opportunities to develop case studies, web content, and other offerings to members based on cohort conversations.
  • Produce webinars and assist developing blog posts. Identify timely topics, and research presenters or resources that can be highlighted for our members.
  • Evaluate and help maintain content on greaterpublic.org. Develop tools and make recommendations and/or develop for content additions or rebuilds as necessary.
  • Help coordinate and create break-out sessions in the Membership and Major giving tracks at our annual conference, the PMDMC (Public Media Development and Marketing Conference) and at other virtual events.
  • Serve as part of the Greater Public Benchmarks team. Review data and report and help prepare and present Benchmarks data to members via webinar and at conferences. 
  • Cultivate relationships with colleagues across public media to help create opportunities and sharing of knowledge.

Skills you bring to the position

  • Have worked in the nonprofit sector for 5+ years, specifically in fundraising with deep experience conducting successful digital fundraising campaigns
  • Strong experience and understanding of digital fundraising tools, and digital fundraising best practices. You have keen eye for spotting opportunities and trends in digital revenue and engagement
  • Dot connector – you love connecting with people and in turn connecting them with other colleagues
  • You find building programs and relationships that help solve problems important and satisfying work
  • Enterprising – able to understand the needs of members, and create content and tools to address those needs
  • Presentation development and public speaking (in-person and virtual)

Nice to have skills but not required

  • Experience being part of team that organizes conferences and professional development events
  • Experience working with (or at) a membership association/organization
  • A love for Public Media – you have an elevator pitch for why it’s worthy of support
  • Familiar with adult learning and educational design principles 
  • Proficient at using Salesforce and G suite tools
