Pachamama Alliance uses a distributed leadership model – meaning no direct managers, mainly working in teams – to organize our workflow. While conventional models have produced many impressive outcomes over time, we believe we need new models to create empowering, responsive, transformative systems and structures. As part of Pachamama Alliance’s purpose we say that we are here to inspire and galvanize the human family to generate a critical mass of conscious commitment to a thriving, just and sustainable way of life on Earth. Using a distributed leadership model is a commitment to transforming human systems and structures that separate us, and to transforming our relationships with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.

While we sort out the changes the COVID19 pandemic has brought on how we work together, this position will be able to work remotely some days of the week, but must be available to regularly work in person in the San Francisco Presidio office for some number of days as determined by the Development Team. Employees receive a complimentary pass to the PresidiGo Shuttle that has stops at the San Francisco Transit Terminal, Embarcadero, and others in route to the Presidio.

Policies

It is the policy of Pachamama Alliance to provide equal opportunity to all employees, applicants and program beneficiaries; to provide equal opportunity for advancement of employees; to provide program and employment facilities which are accessible to those with disabilities and to administer its programs in a manner that does not discriminate against any person because of race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, political affiliation or citizenship.

Pachamama Alliance recognizes and respects the sovereignty of First Nations and tribes, as well as the rights of Indigenous Peoples and frontline communities. These communities are often first and most directly impacted by environmental pollution and climate change, and they provide critical leadership in developing solutions.

Pollution, climate change, and corporations’ bad behavior disproportionately hurts the most marginalized people in society — including people of color, people from working class backgrounds, people with disabilities, women and LGBTQ+ people. To develop transformative solutions, these communities must be centered in the work we do. Pachamama Alliance strongly encourages applications from people with these identities or who are members of other historically marginalized communities.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, Pachamama Alliance will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
