1. Background/Introduction

NTEN is where nonprofit professionals learn about and celebrate the ways technology helps them meet their missions. More than 50,000 community members access NTEN’s capacity-building programs and services, including educational courses, the Nonprofit Technology Conference, and online and in-person discussion spaces.

NTEN’s vision
We envision a more just and engaged world where all nonprofits use technology skillfully and confidently to meet community needs and fulfill their missions.

NTEN’s mission
We support organizations by convening the nonprofit community, offering professional credentials and training, and facilitating an open exchange of ideas.

2. Project Goals and Scope of Services

NTEN is seeking the services of an independent contractor or firm to evaluate and update the models used in the dataset that powers Tech Accelerate, our free, online tech assessment tool for nonprofits.

The selected contractor will be responsible for working with NTEN to determine appropriate deliverables and next steps. We anticipate them to include:

  • Evaluate the primary data set powering Tech Accelerate, ten year’s worth of annual survey data about nonprofit technology staffing and investment, to validate and/or identify additional patterns, trends, and general models for benchmarking.
  • Identify opportunities for improved user understanding of the data, results, and benchmarking available to them when completing their assessments.
  • Review the queries used in the real-time benchmarking tool for validation and improvement.
  • Provide feedback on potential ways to use or improve data collected through ongoing use of Tech Accelerate.
  • Provide feedback on potential adjustments to assessment elements including phrasing and question input method.
