Tech Academy Trainer & Coordinator

The Tech Academy Trainer & Coordinator coordinates and conducts individualized and group-based stabilization and IT skills training for Goodwill employees and Career Services participants. The Coordinator creates and fosters a positive learning environment and inspires participants across diverse academic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and facilitate employee stabilization workshops and IT certification pathway training on a variety of topics that support the learning and development of Goodwill employees and Career Services participants, including but not limited to digital skills and competencies
  • Develop relevant curricula and training resources relative to the stabilization and IT training pathways, in coordination with Goodwill training staff
  • Present information to participants in a clear and effective manner using a variety of teaching aids and address questions or concerns and utilize training and instructional methods that reinforce learning
  • Conduct Goodwill employee and community outreach to market program and garner learners
  • Collaborate with Goodwill Career Services, IT, Human Resources and other department staff to help them mentor program participants and provide direct training and apprenticeship opportunities
  • Recruit members and facilitate Business Advisory Council meetings. Provide verbal and written feedback on individual performance and monitor progress for both participants and referral source
  • Conduct assessments using software and other testing methods needed to provide proper classroom placement
  • Coordinate team members’ coverage/ schedule for employees participating in the SMC Career Pathways upskilling and training programs
  • Maintain curriculum and material for adult education and vocational skills training program as assigned
  • Responsible for filing and maintaining thorough, accurate participant records, including assessments, assignment, tests, reports, performing data entry and other program-related information as required
  • Maintain documentation and records to meet requirements for specific funding sources
  • Collaborate with relevant community-based agencies and referral partners
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, Human Resources or related field preferred
  • 2+ years experience facilitating in-person, web-based, virtual learning or distance learning training
  • Experience teaching basic IT skills, including in the areas of hardware, software, and cloud-based platforms. Knowledge of technology career pathways a plus.
  • Group facilitation, community partner outreach, and program coordination experience
  • Understanding of effective mentoring and volunteer programming
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESExcellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums (in person, phone and electronic-based)
  • Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
  • Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
  • Follow and promote workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety
  • Receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement

  • Ability to lead and conduct training; ability to present in front of peers/associates
  • Professional experience in a learning and development role
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred
