Social Media Manager

SUMMARY 

The American Kidney Fund (AKF) seeks an experienced Social Media Manager to join our growing marketing and communications team. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for the overall implementation of AKF’s social media strategy as well as day-to-day planning, execution and analysis.

The primary goals of this position are to support AKF in creating brand awareness, loyalty and trust, cultivating conversations and relationships with our audience, partners and influencers, driving lead generation, increasing both financial and non-financial conversions and generating inbound web traffic.

Candidates must be creative, innovative, strategic, detail-oriented, data-driven and collaborative. The Manager will work closely with internal partners to build a strong, engaged online community that supports AKF’s strategic goals and mission of fighting kidney disease and helping people live healthier lives.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Own social media content planning, authorship, calendar development, and social scheduling across all social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Develop a deep understanding of AKF’s audiences across social platforms and develop high impact social content and creative for organic and paid initiatives reaching these audiences, including social post images, videos, animation/gifs and infographics
  • Lead the development of social engagement initiatives to strengthen existing relationships and build new relationships with key audiences including: those affected by kidney disease and their loved ones, donors, advocates, health professionals, media, and community and corporate partners
  • Develop organic performance goals and metrics for organic social performance and report on the effectiveness of strategy and creative; make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Implement UTM tracking parameters and source code tracking on URLs to report on social performance; utilize web analytics tools to examine the effectiveness of existing strategies
  • Establish and implement effective influencer strategies
  • Collaborate with and create content – including visual content – for multiple internal teams, including Communications and Marketing, Development, Advocacy, Patient Services, Public and Professional Education and Health Initiatives

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)

  • Actively partner with the Associate Director of Marketing, Email Marketing Manager and Office of Development to execute digital campaigns that drive financial support and effectively cultivate relationships with donors and peer-to-peer fundraisers
  • Work with the Associate Director of Marketing to analyze the performance of education content on KidneyFund.org and work with the Communications and Public Education teams to develop new, engaging and strategic content
  • Work directly with the Office of Patient Services and Kidney Disease Education to promote and drive participation in screening, prevention, and education initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Office of Government Affairs to cultivate advocates, drive awareness of current events and increase advocacy actions through petitions, sign-ups and action alerts
  • Manages organization’s multimedia library
  • Oversee and drive engagement across social media channels, regularly monitoring platforms for response opportunities, and maintain response protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with the Associate Director of Digital Marketing to support the execution of paid digital campaigns, coordinating content, content schedule and audience optimization
  • Use social listening tools effectively. Monitor and uphold the American Kidney Fund’s reputation across all social channels and respond to conversations, when appropriate
  • Implement keyword tagging to classify and analyze social conversation
  • Ensure that AKF staff and partners have the tools, resources, and guidelines to understand and execute social media tactics in alignment with the organization’s overall social media strategy
  • Work with Communications leadership to offer advice and counsel to help mitigate issues in the social space

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 years relevant experience in a similar role in the nonprofit field
  • College degree required
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Design experience required
  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of relevant tools: Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, and social tools like Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Canva, etc
  • Effectively work across functions and teams
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain and protect confidential materials and data
  • Exceptional attention to detail with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
