About the Position:

The Salesforce Administrator & Technology Systems Specialist will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance, and improvement of the GIIN’s Salesforce database.  Working closely with internal stakeholders on program teams to gather user requirements, and supported by the GIIN’s Salesforce consultant, the administrator/systems specialist will identify, develop, and deploy new business processes as directed, while supporting, maintaining, and improving existing ones.

Position Description:

In addition to managing configuration and deployment of Salesforce, the administrator/systems specialist will also lead and support on other general technology integration projects as needed. Examples include but are not limited to: building forms and approval workflows to automate existing processes, selecting, installing, and configuring new products to support business needs, and light web administration and/or development for the GIIN’s suite of online products and services.

This role is part technological project manager, part administrator, part Salesforce analyst, part technology generalist, and wholly dedicated to the GIIN’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Serve as primary system administrator for a Salesforce environment with 40+ users.
  • Handle all basic administrative functions including user maintenance, modification of page layouts, generation of reports and dashboards, creation of new fields and other routine tasks in Salesforce.
  • Gather detailed requests for improvements or changes to the system and implement these changes as appropriate.
  • Automate processes using Salesforce tools such as process builder, workflow rules, approval processes, validation rules, and Nonprofit Success Pack.
  • Work closely with the GIIN’s Salesforce consulting partner for more complex integrations; manage less complex ones directly.
  • Identify, install and maintain appropriate apps from the Salesforce AppExchange as needed.
  • Train new users and grow the Salesforce skill set across the organization and develop training programs which can be reused and repeated.
  • Document Salesforce customizations and processes.
  • Plan for Salesforce upgrades, seasonal releases, and long-term projects.
  • Lead or support on other, non-Salesforce related, technology integration projects as directed (e.g. building forms and workflows; procurement, installation, and configuration of new software packages; light web administration and/or development).
  • Support the IT Infrastructure Manager in general administration and maintenance of the GIIN’s internal IT systems and applications.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to focus the organization’s data use on what best serves the mission.

The Salesforce Administrator & Technology Systems Specialist will be a key member of the Operations team and will report to the Information Technology Infrastructure Manager.


  • A documented history of successful project completion
  • A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex processes
  • Strong Salesforce proficiency and ability to quickly master new technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the Salesforce platform, with the ability to build custom objects, formula fields, processes, custom views, and other content of intermediate complexity
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality
  • Salesforce Admin (ADM201) Certified required
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Salesforce administrator preferred
  • Advanced Admin (ADM211) Certified preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard business computer software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  • Some web development training or experience required
  • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack preferred
  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Familiarity with design thinking or human centered design is a plus

This position will be based in our New York City office with significant remote work flexibility offered through the GIIN’s hybrid in-person/remote work model.

Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience. Salary range for this position is $64,000 to $71,000.
