Digital Marketing and Community Manager

The American Kidney Fund (AKF), the nation’s leading kidney nonprofit, is seeking a full-time Digital Marketing and Community Manager to join our growing team. The Manager is responsible for executing several facets of digital marketing strategy, with an emphasis on social platform management, online community building, and visual storytelling. These duties will include partnering with the Social Media Manager to develop content and manage the organization’s social media channels; managing our online communities through social listening; managing interactions with and delivering near-real-time responses; and developing graphics and/or video assets for our marketing channels. The Manager must have excellent writing skills and the ability to produce copy that upholds our brand voice and editorial style, delivering copy that is relevant to specific social audiences. They must have experience conceptualizing, designing and producing creative content. They must possess solid teamwork skills as they will be working with a team of communications and marketing channel leads as well as colleagues from around the organization. The Digital Marketing and Community Manager will be a hands-on team member who contributes daily to the marketing team’s development and execution of marketing tactics that support AKF’s overall strategic vision.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partner with the Social Media Manager on social platform content planning, calendar development and social scheduling across social channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Develop social content and creative for organic and paid initiatives, including social post images, videos, animation/gifs and infographics
  • Own in-house and freelance relationship creative development, including overseeing the creative project intake process, project prioritization, and workflow management based on project impact and scope, and source imagery for corporate restricted and AKF campaigns
  • Be accountable for the management and performance of AKF’s closed Facebook groups for Ambassadors and Kidney Health Coaches
  • Measure, analyze, and track online community data for both brand-owned channels and groups
  • Monitor and uphold the American Kidney Fund’s reputation across all social channels by proactively engaging in social listening, facilitating online conversations, moderating comments and responding directly and promptly to users
  • Ensure brand consistency in copy through tone, voice and terminology
  • • Communicate directly with patient ambassadors, influencers, caregivers, supporters and relevant health professionals via social media and email to create a strong network
  • Provide audience insights to marketing and education editorial teams to help guide content creation
  • Partner with the Director of Digital Marketing to support the execution of paid digital campaigns, coordinating content, creative, content schedule and audience optimization
  • Work with other departments to ensure AKF standard response templates are up-to-date and reflect existing organizational talking points
  • Collaborate with and create content – including visual content – for multiple internal teams
  • Direct other departments on best practices for developing content and graphics specifically for their target audiences
  • Work with Communications leadership to offer advice and counsel to help mitigate issues in the social space

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 3 years relevant experience. Experience planning and executing community engagement activities and executing social media strategies. College degree required. Exceptional writing and analytical skills. In-depth knowledge of design and video editing platforms/software, social listening and social scheduling/management tools, and Facebook Business Manager, is strongly preferred. Ability to promote health messaging in social media and easy to handle format for users.  Experience managing a creative design workflow or similar project management workflow is a must. Effectively work across functions and teams. Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines. Ability to maintain and protect confidential materials and data. Exceptional attention to detail with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
