Job Summary
Working with the VP of Marketing & Communications team, the Digital Director will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, execution, and optimization of CRS’ digital content and distribution channels: optimize online engagement to measurably advance CRS’ mission. The ideal candidate will be a tech-savvy communicator who is able to align the digital team’s priorities with Agency and MarCom priorities; develop and implement digital marketing plans that align with traditional marketing efforts; effectively collaborate with other MarCom departments, help develop and execute a content strategy; lead and empower a team, and build and maintain strong relationships with other CRS business units.

Because CRS is in the process of building a new website, this is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned, creative, entrepreneurial, digital professional who has deep collaboration, branding, digital experience to join a successful organization at a critical time of growth.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continually optimize CRS’ flagship site and supporting microsites via structure, functionality, and content
  • Oversee the strategy, development, and optimization of new microsites, as needed
  • Support a digital content strategy that drives engagement and conversions (donate, share content, sign up for a newsletter, download a resource, advocate, join a program, etc.)
  • Manage the development and maintenance of evergreen web content as well as the implementation of campaign-specific initiatives
  • Collaborate with other MarCom units to plan and execute creative and integrated messaging campaigns
  • Develop and practice a culture of customer service excellence among the team with other business units including, but not limited to: Charitable Giving, Mission & Mobilization, Advocacy, Overseas Operations.
  • Define and execute strategies to optimize paid, own, and earned media; including but not limited to search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), social media, and email marketing
  • Ensure tracking and reporting systems are in place to quantify and qualify the impact of digital marketing efforts
  • Showcase and highlight the work of the digital team through weekly reporting, meetings, presentations, as well as mid-year and end-of-year reporting.
  • Ensure maintenance and governance structures for web properties are in place for long-term website health
  • Foster a culture of excellence within the digital team via team building, mentoring, training, and career-pathing
  • Keep up with trends and advances in online marketing, particularly in the nonprofit space, and participate where appropriate as a thought leader and representative of CRS
  • Increase efficiency and support data-driven decision-making
  • Oversee the digital forecasts and overall department budget
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Team of up to 10, comprised of designers, developers, and content managers.

Key Working Relationships:
Internal: Executive Office, U.S. Operations, Marketing & Communications, Charitable Giving, Overseas Operations
External: Vendors

Work Environment: Normal office working environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business management, and/or nonprofit management. Candidates with a degree in other disciplines with a proven relevant professional record will be accepted.
  • Eight to ten years of online fundraising, marketing, advocacy, nonprofit management, and/or advertising experience
  • Strong management experience
  • Proven success in building websites integrated with quantifiably effective marketing programs
  • Experience with content management systems, digital performance tracking, social enterprise platforms, and client resource management systems
  • Experience and knowledge of functional capabilities of all components in a digital marketing ecosystem including points of integration
  • Commitment to stay current in a rapidly changing field
  • Ability to use independent judgment and follow-through with minimal supervision
  • Superior people, project management, time management, and organization skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with the development and oversight of large budgets
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing, and dynamic environment that values excellence, intelligence, and feedback
  • Emotionally mature and self-confident, with a sense of humor in order to maintain balance and perspective.
