Digital Director

Food & Water Watch


The Digital Director will lead, coordinate and advance Food & Water Watch goals online through compelling campaigns that engage and educate supporters.
Food & Water Watch is a leading national advocacy organization that runs dynamic and cutting-edge campaigns in support of clean water, trustworthy food, and a livable climate for all. We challenge the corporate control and abuse of our food, water, and common resources through various issue campaigns.
This position is a unique blend of a skilled manager, technical guru, digital strategist, online advocacy and digital acquisition expert that will support a 14-year old organization whose impact, both online and offline, is growing steadily. This position will give strategic and management direction to a team of online organizers, digital fundraisers, and email marketers.


  • Develop the organizations overall digital strategy and direct the day-to-day execution across the organizations email, web, social, and mobile channels
  • Help manage digital tools, troubleshoot problems, and assist with reporting / analysis
  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of at least 5, which includes staff working on regional communications, web, and digital fundraising
  • Develop and achieve team KPIs including but not limited to: goals for list growth, fundraising, engagement, reactivation, etc
  • Work collaboratively with many different teams across the organization (e.g. executive leadership, development, policy, communications, organizing) in the development of campaign planning and scheduling
  • Maintain a focus on testing and optimizing digital tactics to continually achieve and exceed the organizations advocacy and fundraising goals
  • Coordinate with and/or manage vendors/contractors as needed
  • Stay on top of digital trends and identify opportunities to innovate
  • Maintain a familiarity with a diverse set of campaign issues and be able to crystallize them into clear, compelling messaging for the organizations audiences
  • Be nimble and agile in a fast-paced advocacy environment
  • Oversee all digital acquisition including google grants, Facebook ads, remarketing, etc.

  • Commitment for the progressive issues FWW is tackling every day
  • 7+ years of experience in digital marketing / digital advocacy
  • Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit digital advocacy and fundraising
  • 3+ years of experience managing similar-sized teams
  • Experience managing remote staff members
  • A passion for fostering professional development
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong relationship-management skills
  • Experience with Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and/or Blackbaud
