Concern Worldwide US (CUS) is an independent affiliate of Concern Worldwide, with offices in New York and Chicago. Our mission is to support the work of Concern Worldwide by financially supporting programs, representing Concern with national/international co-funders and organizations, facilitating the recruitment of personnel and raising the organization’s profile. CUS also engages in development education programs with the general public and with high schools in the US.


Position Background

Reporting to the Vice President, Development, the Development Marketing Officer is a vital team member of the Concern U.S. Development department, with primary responsibilities for an integrated direct marketing campaign. The Development Officer works closely with the Communications team and the Database Manager.

Concern Worldwide U.S. recently launched an ambitious direct marketing initiative to expand its individual donor base. This role helps create, execute, and evaluate the performance of both the acquisition and retention programs that have traditional mail and digital components. Working closely with development and communications staff and the external direct marketing consultants, the Development Marketing Officer plays a key role in ensuring the program meets income targets within the established timeline. Responsibilities include participating in strategy sessions that determine content and target audiences; creating assets for the integrated campaign; and reviewing all materials to ensure proper brand identification. This position is expected to be familiar with digital marketing principles and strategies and is responsible for executing the email marketing program including appropriately segmenting lists and targeting audiences.

This position also helps development staff in Public Engagement, Donor Care, Events, and Major Donors meet their revenue goals by devising multi-channel content and digital strategies, including recommending channels and platforms, creating materials and reporting on performance.  S/he also works closely with the communications team to develop content that aligns with fundraising objectives for use on social media, in web stories, Google Ads, CTAs, etc.

Concern Worldwide regularly responds to emergencies that require immediate funding. This position creates and executes multi-channel emergency appeals when needed. This includes designing the campaign strategy, as well as seeking out and setting up fundraising opportunities on other platforms, such as Global Giving or Crowdrise.

This position must be comfortable using the Salesforce database to create lists, ensure integrity and quality of data, and report and analyze performance.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • 3-4 years of experience in an office setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player able to work with internal and external partners.
  • Understanding the importance of brand identity.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within deadlines
  • Knowledge of digital marketing principles and strategies.
  • CRM database experience, Salesforce strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite a plus (InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator); HTML a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word; Excel; PowerPoint) required.
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of CUS.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
