About the Job
The Database Marketing Manager plays a key role in the development, execution, and analysis of direct marketing initiatives while identifying and implementing opportunities to boost reach, customer acquisition and retention. This position is responsible for the development of target audiences and segmentation strategies for use in data-driven marketing campaigns. This role will influence the organization’s database marketing strategies, including technology, tools and processes that best serve business objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Manage audience targeting, segmentation and testing for direct marketing campaigns. Navigate both structured and unstructured data sources to extract and manage audience lists for marketing and sales efforts.
  2. Assist in the creative development, building, testing, sending and tracking of direct marketing campaigns. Identify opportunities to leverage marketing automation technology and to further target, personalize and improve marketing programs in driving acquisition and retention efforts. Assist in other marketing initiatives and efforts aimed at improving the customer experience across all channels.
  3. Track and analyze campaign performance and ROI. Explore and implement new methods of measurement to attribute the impact of marketing and sales efforts on organization-wide KPIs. Identify insights to inform performance marketing strategy and maximize results.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure organizational data systems support marketing and sales objectives. Assess existing platforms and play a lead role in designing database marketing architecture (e.g. campaign tools and automation software) by developing recommendations for senior leadership.
  5. Develop end-to-end processes for use of customer/prospect data in marketing communications. Perform QA, map variable data fields, and securely import and export data from third-party vendors and applications. Experience implementing CRM/EMS integrations a plus.
  6. Drive efforts to improve and maintain overall data quality and hygiene; oversee the process to manage customer communication preferences and opt-outs.
  7. Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in CAN-SPAM while ensuring marketing programs comply with fair lending and data privacy regulations.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, data science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent of experience). Financial services and/or non-profit experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years of work experience in database marketing with the ability to target and extract audiences from structured and unstructured data environments; demonstrated experience working with CRM, campaign management and marketing automation tools.
  • Knowledge of direct marketing and email marketing fundamentals (CAN-SPAM, list management, segmentation, A/B testing, QA, deliverability and reporting)
  • Experience tracking results of campaigns and test strategies within campaigns.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize results into insights and clear and concise recommendations.
  • Experience with SQL or other data management, analysis and query tools.
  • Strong project management and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in the message and creative development is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with teams, managing a complex portfolio of work and multiple projects at one time.
