The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking an Analyst, Human Resources Management System (HRMS) for our Human Capital and Development department. The main responsibility of this position will be the maintenance of the HRMS and other systems of use in the human resources department. Will also serve as the technical professional for the department and provides assistance to departmental function areas to insure data integrity, system updates/changes, report writing and process improvements. Leads the implementation of new systems as needed.
This position will be responsible for

  • Maintaining and updating employee data and ensuring integrity and accuracy within all systems;
  • Managing all system upgrades, enhancements, patches, and implementation of new systems as needed;
  • Partnering with stakeholders (i.e. benefits, finance, payroll) in other departments for audits, reporting, projects, and other inter-departmental initiatives;
  • Acting as the administrator for all systems: Assisting in resetting user names and passwords; maintaining security rights and assisting other users with issues;
  • Acting as the point of contact for the department on all system issues and interface with vendor to resolve system problems;
  • Developing and maintaining user guidelines and documentation for all human resources systems;
  • Training new system users on processes and functionality;
  • Writing, maintaining and supporting a variety of reports/queries using appropriate reporting tools;
  • Developing standard reports for HR functional areas and run monthly HR metrics reports for the management team;
  • Assisting with the data entry of other critical HRMS data, such as confidential salary data, applicant information, benefits data, org chart updates, training, certifications and performance reviews;
  • Assisting with other duties when needed and as assigned by the HR management team;
  • Assisting HR management in the administration of HR policies and practices, including wage and salary, training, employment and benefits;
  • Maintaining awareness of current trends in HRMS as wells as recommending new and innovative technology trends and find ways to increase both HR knowledge and HRMS applications to fully utilize HRMS system and encourage full usage of technology to better automate HR processes and procedures;
  • Supporting the implementation and administration of various Human Capital & Development initiatives; managing, performing, or assisting with various projects, processes, and programs and acting as a liaison or partner with various departments, projects teams, etc. when cross-functional integration is required;
  • Performs other duties as requested.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience required;
  • Minimum three years of experience of HRMS administration;
  • Professional/Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR or SPHR) a plus;
  • Advanced knowledge of HRMS systems implementation and administration; experience with Dayforce highly desirable;
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws with the ability to apply that knowledge to day-to-day situations and issues desirable;
  • A customer focus, which demonstrates proactive, responsive services;
  • Knowledge of compensation practices and understanding of wage and hour laws desirable preferred;

  • Advanced MSOffice skills particularly Excel; strong analytical skills;
  • Excellent project management skills for planning and executing multiple projects and priorities;
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member;
  • Ability to handle information of a confidential nature and ensure that such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner.
