Description
Organizations often wait until an event or campaign is over to tell the story of it. But where’s the fun in that for your audience? How does that help them feel connected to your work?
In this course, you’ll learn how to use multi-channel storytelling to compel your audiences to engage in your mission with you rather than watching you after the fact. You’ll learn how to master turning even the most day-to-day tasks of your organization into compelling narratives or behind-the-scenes videos to create shared experiences. These experiences integrate results and impact in emotional ways to help you gain the trust and support of your donor community.
We’ll also look at a variety of case studies and create your organization’s storytelling strategy. You’ll learn how to plan internally for storytelling projects, how to use timeless storytelling techniques to create compelling content, and how to map your stories across multiple platforms.

With years of experience building websites, I am a self-starting innovator who is highly motivated to see projects through from start to finish. I specialize in multi-tiered technical and creative integrations for any type of media and have spent close to a decade customizing solutions for online video delivery. Paired with my extensive experience in communications and the entertainment industry, I have the unique ability to cultivate vision and big picture roadmaps while translating them down to technical deliverables. This includes finding a unique approach to every story or article; engaging and energizing companies to be a participatory player in the ever-changing media landscape; bringing together websites, social media, video technology, apps, and print materials; writing about a high peak or a sailing adventure; and just digging deep and breathing life into new projects. When I can, I put in time doing volunteer work. I've worked at orphanages in Kenya both doing direct work with the kids and creating videos for the organization to bring in more volunteers. I also have been known to volunteer in classrooms and preschools around VT. And I often help out at animal shelters. I received a bachelor of fine arts in Film Production and a minor in Creative Writing from Concordia University in Montreal. I am an avid writer in a variety of genres, including outdoor writing, fiction, brand marketing, and poetry. When I'm not writing or running a business, you can find me skiing powder, running, and reading about anything related to cyberspace. You can learn more about me and my company at www.firstturnmedia.com.
