There are a number of overlapping and exacerbating workforce issues happening right now across the nonprofit sector whether it is federal cuts or philanthropic shifts, AI investments or adoption, or burn out and turn over. NTEN has heard from many community members who are looking for a new job and finding it harder than ever and organizations who are hiring and finding it harder than ever. In response, NTEN is hosting a community call as a place to vent, share, and process the job market as a community.
NTEN’s topic-based online
community groups will host breakout rooms in the call that attendees can join or move between.
Breakout rooms will cover topics/sectors such as data, cybersecurity, digital inclusion, open source technology, etc. Conversations will focus on the topic of the job market in the group’s sector – exploring trends, discussing strategies, and otherwise making career connections.
We'll also host a Grief Space breakout room to connect with others experiencing work and job-related grief in a space to share your grief and hold others'. While all work-related grief is welcome (funding cuts, mission drift, toxicity), please help us center people experiencing or anticipating direct job loss or personal, material impact.
Everyone is invited:
- Job seekers: The call is to find community and solidarity, ask questions about what is standing out on resumes or cover letters right now, and gather feedback from folks who’ve successfully found a new job or are hiring.
- Hiring managers: The call might be the best source for finding your new hire, or getting feedback about job roles and hiring processes from folks who care about the field.
- Everyone else: Even if you aren’t looking or hiring yourself right now, these conversations benefit from your perspective of what you’re seeing and hearing from your networks and friends.
