Statement of Commitment – Online Community Organizer

NTEN: The Nonprofit Technology Network works to help the nonprofit sector use technology more effectively, and operates as a membership association of nonprofits and their staff, consultants, funders, and vendors.
NTEN’s online groups bring together community members to ask questions, give advice, and share resources. Volunteer online community organizers bring a diversity of voice and knowledge and help create deeper personal connections.
Online Community Organizers will:

  • Work with group co-organizers to:
    • Find their role within the organizing team and share the work
    • Create a welcoming environment for group members
    • Welcome new group members
    • Make sure all group posts receive a response in a timely manner
    • Maintain activity levels by seeding discussions and/or holding online events
  • Serve for at least one year, approximately 2-4 hours per month
  • Respond to communications from NTEN Community staff
  • Attend (or listen to recordings from) quarterly calls between NTEN and other organizers
  • Stay up to date with NTEN organizer news via organizer forum and/or Slack channels
  • Remain informed about NTEN’s mission and programs

NTEN will:

  • Provide organizers with the tools needed to facilitate their groups including the online community platform, conference lines, and webinar platform
  • Regularly be available for one-on-one support via email, phone, or other tools
  • Supply support via quarterly organizer calls, Handbook and other digital resources, training during the annual Nonprofit Technology Conference
  • Send organizers materials to help them promote their groups
  • Provide complimentary Individual NTEN Membership during organizer service
