2012 NTC Progressive Party
The NTC Progressive Party is a highlight of every conference and a topic of conversation long after the event is over. Year after year, the after party has continued to expand.
The Progressive Party gives attendees a chance to get out of the hotel, socialize, and see a little more of San Francisco.

What Is the Progressive Party?
The progressive party is a series of smaller parties, planned by NTEN members & conference attendees, taking place at multiple venues in the Union Square neighborhood of San Francisco. NTEN will provide a map of party locations and encourage attendees to visit as many as possible.
Why Should I Plan a Party?
This is a great opportunity to connect with NTC attendees, network, and have fun. You can show off your office digs or your favorite local venue. NTC attendees love a good party and this is your chance to show your appreciation and support of the nonprofit tech community!
When Is the Progressive Party?
The progressive party will take place during the traditional NTC party time slot; this year, that's Wednesday, April 4 from 8 pm to midnight. Your party does not need to last the full four hours, but part of it must take place during that time slot.
Where Should I Have My Party?
We highly recommend that you plan your party within walking distance or a short metro ride from the conference site (the San Francisco Hilton at 333 O'Farrell St).
How Do I Ensure that My Party is an Official Part of the NTC Progressive Party?
To ensure that your party details are on our list of parties in all online and printed conference materials, you'll need to secure an Official NTC Progressive Party Host sponsorship. For more information on how to become and Official NTC Progressive Party Host, email Sarah Janczak at sarah@nten.org. Please remember that we'll need your party details by February 1, 2012.

Other FAQ:
Will NTEN be sponsoring a party?
No. The Progressive Party is a community based effort and NTEN will not sponsor a party during this time.
Does my party have to be a “dance” party?
No. We are hoping each party will have its own vibe. It’s completely up to you if you would like to provide music or other entertainment during your party.
Do I have to serve food at my party?
While we recommend offering some type of sustenance (especially if you serve alcohol), it is not a requirement for hosting.
Does my party have to take place at one of the suggested venues?
No. You can have your party at any venue that you see fit. Again, we recommend that your partybes held within walking distance or a short metro ride from the conference site.
Can NTEN help me pay for a venue, caterer, entertainment, etc.?
No. You are responsible for the costs of your own party. In exchange, NTEN will advertise your party in its official communications.
How many NTC registrants should I expect at my party?
At the past few NTCs, NTEN has sold over 500 tickets to the after party -- and many more attendees have expressed interest in attending a free party. This year, we expect to have up to 1600 attendees at the conference itself. Feel free to use Eventbrite or another tool to request RSVP’s for your party planning purposes. We suggested tagging any online event postings with #12NTC.
Can I charge an entrance fee for my party?
Yes. You can charge an entrance fee to help cover the costs of your party. You are responsible for managing all ticket sales and must include the entrance fee information in your party description. If you are going to charge an entrance fee, please remember that there will be multiple parties taking place at the same time. We recommend keeping the entrance fees minimal.
Where will NTEN advertise my party?
For Official NTC Progressive Party Hosts, NTEN will advertise your party in the following places:
- Party description on the official NTC website
- Party description in the conference online community
- Listing in the conference program book
- Spot on the official NTC Progressive Party Map
- Pre-conference email to all attendees with Progressive Party details
Is NTEN charging to be included in the NTC Progressive Party?
Yes, this year if you'd like to be included in official communications and on the Progressive Party map, you'll need to purchase a sponsorship, and we must have your party details by February 1, 2012.
If you do not purchase a sponsorship, you can still throw a party, however you will be responsible for all communications about your party.
What information do I need to send by February 1, 2012 to be included in the NTC Progressive Party?
We need the following information to include you in all Progressive Party listings:
- Party Sponsor (organization, group or individuals)
- Party Location (name & address)
- Party Time
- Party Entrance Fees (if applicable) & Where Attendees Can Purchase Tickets
- Short (100 word limit) description of your part
Note: If you do not send the above information to sarah@nten.org by COB on February 1, 2012 your information will NOT be included in official communications.
Please send all required information and any questions to sarah@nten.org
