Opening Plenary, Friday, April 9: Andrew Sullivan, Journalist, The Atlantic

Andrew Sullivan is sometimes considered a pioneer in political weblog journalism, since he was one of the first prominent political journalists in the United States to start his own personal blog. Andrew wrote his blog for a year at Time Magazine, shifting on 1 February 2007 to The Atlantic, where it received approximately 40 million page views in the first year. He is the former editor of The New Republic and the author of five books. Read more about Andrew on Wikipedia or The Atlantic.

Andrew will share his experience and thoughts on the blogging culture and its' evolution in the social web world at the NTC.

 

Plenary, Saturday, April 10: Suzanne Seggerman, President and Co-Founder of Games for Change

Before G4C, Suzanne was a Director at NYC-based think tank Web Lab, where she oversaw a variety of cross-media projects. At Web Lab, she co-curated the show "Provocations" for the 2002 Florida Film Festival, the first national exhibition featuring digital games about social-issues. Her background in online media includes community-oriented interactive environments and the design of non-traditional games, which earned her awards from New Voices New Visions and Communications Arts. Before her involvement with new media technologies, she worked as a documentary film producer for PBS, including on Ken Burns/Stephen Ives PBS series "The West" and as Co-producer of "Race For Life," a humanitarian aid and documentary film about Eastern Europe. Suzanne received a BA from Kenyon College and a Masters from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program. Find out more about Suzanne and here work at Games for Change - or Wikipedia.

Science Fair: The NTC Exhibit Hall

3:00 - 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 8

The Science Fair is an opportunity for companies and organizations that provide technology services to the nonprofit sector to show off their latest and greatest offerings to everyone attending the Nonprofit Technology Conference. This marketplace of ideas will be filled with simultaneous presentations and hands-on demos, and includes the conference's Opening Reception, so we hope you don't miss it on April 8 from 3-8p. It's open to the public so invite your local Atlanta friends to meet you there!

 

Ignite Reception

7:00 pm, Thursday, April 8

Ignite is a fun way to show off new, innovative ideas. We'll give you a chance to submit your Ignite presentation in response to the question - "If you had 5 minutes, what would you tell the nonprofit technology community?" and then the Ignite presentations will be shared in a reception so you can enjoy a wine/beer and hear the hottest new ideas in the nptech community!

 

Unconference: NetSquared Open Space (NOS): APIs and Open Data

9:00 am - 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 8

Are you interested in learning how your organization could use open data and APIs to show your impact, coordinate volunteers, or inspire supporters to take action?  All over these possibilities already, and want to demo your website or application, get feedback, or share your knowledge with others?  Bring your project and join us!  The NOS session is a chance for anyone interested in open data and APIs to connect and collaborate.

Even if you've never participated in an 'unconference' event like this, no worries!  The NetSquared team will be working the room to activate and facilitating conversations so everyone can enjoy the ride.

We Are Media Sessions

Hands-on intro to social media workshops based on the We Are Media Project will be available on a first-come basis for folks new to social media . Topics will include Listening, Blogging, Video, and Podcasting. Cost is $25 and registration includes up to 2 sessions. Sign up now and we'll email you to register for individual sessions.
