General Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Multicultural Student Affairs within the Division of Student Affairs and coordinates the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs assessment and technology functions. Through research and collaborations with key university areas the Research Analyst develops, maintains and updates OMSA's systems in order to enhance retention efforts. The Research Analyst serves as historian for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and provides support for alumni efforts. Essential to the Research Analyst role is the ability to produce and present reports, and records to OMSA staff and external partners for informational and educational purposes. Some weekend and evening hours are required components of this position.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates, maintains and enhances systems for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs that will support retention efforts for students of color and first generation students including training of professional and student staff.
- Conducts, analyzes and presents research on retention efforts, issues, trends and best practices for students of color and first generation students.
- Records, manages, assesses and reports the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs history in electronic, written and oral formats.
- Supervises, trains, and develops Graduate and Undergraduate Interns and other student employees.
- Represents the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs on committees, workgroups and advisory boards related to technology, assessment and retention.
- Provides advocacy to OMSA constituents.
- Responsible for allocating funds connected to the overall Office of Multicultural Student Affairs Budget.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or social science (Sociology, Psychology, etc) with extensive computer/research coursework.
- 3-5 years work experience in research and demonstrated technical experience.
- Experience in Student Development/Student Affairs philosophies.
- Experience working with students of color, as well as diversity in higher education.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with public presentations, presenting research analysis, trends, statistical predications etc.
- Experience supervising student staff including graduate interns.
- Experience with social science research methodologies.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding and proficient experience in computer functions and software applications including the following: PeopleSoft, Access (Database development/Maintenance), SPSS Programming, Excel (Spreadsheet applications), PowerPoint, Research/Internet Desktop Publishing/Library (Publisher, Adobe, Illustrator), Oracle.
- Ability to educate non-technical staff on different areas of technology.
- Some weekend and evening hours are required components of this position.
